The support of the childrens' reading in the Czech Republic and German speaking countries

The diploma thesis concentrates on the children's reading issues, and compares the approach to its support in the Czech Republic and the German speaking countries. The introductory part is devoted to the current children's reading, the factors that influence it, and reading interests of today's children. It also evaluates the contemporary Czech children's literature and its publishers. The following two chapters describe the activities for the children's reading support that are developed by Czech libraries and non-librarian entities. The next part introduces the projects for the children's reading support implemented in Austria and Germany; it also shortly describes the programs of other German speaking countries. The sixth chapter briefly outlines the subject matter of the children's reading support in both Czech and foreign media. There are two surveys attached to the thesis. The first compares the activities of selected Czech and foreign libraries, and their contribution to the children's reading support. The second survey, implemented among the children readers of the Central Library of the Municipal Library in Prague, evaluates the children's satisfaction with the offered thematic discussions for the school classes. School and extracurricular programs to support children's reading in Belgium

This diploma thesis is about the problematic of children's reading and analyses the way the French speaking part of Belgium supports it. The introduction part of the thesis presents the Belgian primary school's system and introduces us to the main political competencies in Belgium. After that, the next chapter is about children's literature. On one hand, it approaches this kind of literature from the historical point of view and, on the other hand it is focused on the content of this literature. Follow a subchapter about reading's habits and about the different factors that have an influence on children's reading literacy. It mentions the role that play the school and the family to support children's reading. The third chapter presents a certain number of Belgian projects that support children's reading. Most of them are applied on a state basis. The fourth and last chapter is about the situation in the Czech Republic. It also looks at the way Belgium and Czech Republic could inspire each other in this area. The conclusion of the diploma thesis summarizes the content of the work and proposes a direction of further reflection.

Environments and projects that support children's reading

The thesis deals with a support of children's reading. The work is aimed to factors and actors influencing reading education. The first part solves theoretical definition and the meaning of reading. Primarily there are explained two important terms related to the topic - reading and a reader. Further it is proceeding by attention given to different phases of reading education before and during school attendance. Primarily three environments influencing reading literacy were observed. These include family, school and public library. Furthermore, national representative projects supporting reading primarily in libraries are shortly presented at this thesis as well. The second part is focused on the Municipal Library of Prague, specifically Smichov branch and its activities. In this part are charted various programmes for children. Repeated activities for parents with children or for children alone are observed. Also, events for groups of preschool and school children are described. The important part of presented work deals with survey of cooperation between Smichov branch and local schools. The research results are to determine practical experience of teachers from these schools in activities of Smichov branch and in their cooperation with this library.
The role of the book in evolution of the children's imagination

The master thesis deals with the importance of the book in evolution of the children's imagination. The first part includes short introduction to problems of children's imagination. The second part is engaged in ontogeny of child from prenatal period to the middle childhood and in progress of key competences. It analyzes selected psychological approaches, which had the imagination as a subject of the research. The thesis explains and defines basic terms and processes of the imagination. It deals with a specific phenomenon of the children's imagination and with the evolution of the imagination. The third part introduces typical children's literature, directs on the traditional fairytale and it specifies problems of the literary characters too. It describes the historical development of the Czech book illustration, importance of the illustration in books for children and it also describes children's drawings. The fourth part applies all of previous pieces of knowledges into the work experience in kindergarten. It also describes relations between child and school or child and book. Children's reading at lower secondary school

The diploma thesis is focused on the condition of contemporary teenage reading. It ascertains the basic attributes of the chosen basic school pupils' reading. The thesis occupies with characteristic signs of pupil's reader's behaviour, their reader's interests and attitudes, it describes their relation to reading. It also looks at various factors influencing the development of children's reading. The thesis studies the position of reading in competition for other leisure activities of today's teenagers. It researches as well if present teenage reading really is "in crisis" as the level of reading literacy of czech pupils declines, which is shown in latest results of international researches. The theoretical part shows the basic characteristics of teenage reading in regard of progression specifics of the given age group. It is occupied with the way the school literary education influnces the teenage reading, too. It also studies the reading literacy and its position in the basic curriculum document for basic schools. The presented diploma thesis maps the situation of contemporary child's reading. It deals with the factors which form the child reader externally (especially family, school and libraries, or the projects supporting child's reading). The main part of the thesis presents an analysis of the contemporary poetry for children. It examines how the books can influence the readers and motivate them for further reading. For the text analysis, the books of poetry which were awarded in competitions of Zlatá stuha or Magnesia Litera in 2013-2017 were selected as representative samples, namely Poetický slovníček dětem v příkladech, Všelijaké řečičky pro kluky a holčičky and Moře slané vody by Radek Malý, Tetovaná teta by Daniela Fischerová, Vynálezárium by Robin Král and Hlava v hlavě by David Böhm and Ondřej Buddeus. When analyzing the illustrations, attention was paid to the selected books that won the art category of Zlatá stuha and the competition Nejkrásnější česká kniha roku (The Most Beautiful Czech Book of the Year) and to the books representing the model production of the publishing houses of Běžíliška, Meander and series Raketa in publishing house Labyrint. Education for reading in elementary school

This bechalor thesis is dedicated to the problems of reading, especially the reading of children at elementary school. The crucial questions are what has influence on children's reading in positive as well as in negative way, and what are the ways, how to support it and to improve the current situation. This bechalor thesis is divided into three parts. First part (chapter 1-3) talks about the children's reading and about the most important influences on it. The family environment and the next development of a child are the most important factors. Second part (chapter 4) deals with the relations to other sciences, mainly the pedagogy and psychology. Third part (chapter 5-6) is dedicated to the support of reading and deals with the research of reading. The most knows projects of the children's-reading and the most known researches of the reading at elementary schools are mentioned.
